The Sue Ryder is a company limited by Guarantee. It was incorporated in 1984 and has operated as a registered charity since that date.

The Foundation is required to make annual returns to the Companies Registration Office.

The Foundation is also an 'Approved Body' of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Govt since 1984.

The Sue Ryder Foundation is also a member of the Irish Charities Shops Association (ICSA) and the Irish Council for Social Housing.
