The Board

The current board of management for the Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland consists of the following individuals:


President and Chairman: Senator Charles McDonald

Founding member of the Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland. KCSG,KM, KC*HS, Grand Cross 2010; PC. Pro Merito Europa 1979; Schuman Medal; European Parliament Medal. 


Vice Chairman: Bob Reid

Retired Managing Director and consultant to the fashion industry and retail sector. Bob oversees the continued expansion of the foundations work and development. 


Andy Cole

Former Chairman Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland, Abbeyleix Credit Union, Abbeyleix Heritage Co. Ltd., and Gorta Ireland. Former advisor to the European Commission on land use and development and has undertaken work for the Department of Foreign Affairs. Andy continues to offer advise and guidance to the board.


Margaret Downey

Founding member of the board of Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland, Margaret continues to play a role in the ongoing development of the Foundation.


Frank Quilter

B.Agr.Sc.  A Kerry Native and member of the board since its foundation Frank offers  advise and guidance in the continuing growth of Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland


Company Secretary Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland, Denis Matthews

A Managing Director and Property Consultant involved in the hospitality and property sector, Denis brings to the board advise and recommendations in the area of property acquisition and the development of new Sue Ryder Centres and Charity shops.


Denis Buckley

Bcomm, MSc (Mgmt) FCMA. A Chartered Management Accountant having held  positions in major companies, national and international, at  Managing Director and Chief Executive level. Currently involved in his own practice as a Certified Business Coach and Executive Mentor, Denis offers advise and guidance to the Board.  


Simon McDonald

Barrister at Law serves on the board in an advisory role.


Michael Barry

Chartered Accountant (FCA) Bachelors of Commerce  (UCC) Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction (Institute of Directors-London)

Current Role: Chief Financial Officer- Board na Mona PLC


Kilian Cleary

A former Civil Servant, Killian offers advise in the area of management for the Sue Ryder homes and Charity shops.
