September 2009 -Minister for Disability visits Sue Ryder
John Moloney, the Minister for disability paid a flying visit to the Foundations head office in Ballyroan in Sept.
The minister (a local td) has always been supportive of the work of the Foundation and he found time in his busy schedule to call into the scheme and greet some of the residents.
September 2009 - Irish World Cup Soccer Legends Support Sue Ryder
On the day the Irish team moved another step closer to qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Irish legends Steve Staunton and Phil Babb were participating in the Sue Ryder Foundation Five a Side Fundraising tournament.
The event which was sponsored by Airtricity, saw twelve teams fight for the right to take on a team of premiership legends including Lee Sharpe (Man Utd) Ray Parlour (Arsenal) Nigel Winterburn (Arsenal) Phil Babb (Liverpool) and Steve Staunton (Liverpool).
The winners of the Tournament the 86ers from Dublin beat P.Elliot in the final, the 86ers were then beaten 6-2 by the legends in a closely fought game.
"The Sue Ryder Foundation is a great charity, doing great work for the elderly all around the country" said Steve Staunton, Irelands most capped player and former coach. "Events such as these help highlight the fantastic job they do in supporting the elderly and providing top notch accommodation in Laois and around the country" Steve said.
The event was also supported by firms such as Bardon and Molumby, FD Meats, Doughril Builders, Padriag Purcell Fruit and Veg, Pat Haeding Butchers and Deverils Oil.

April 2009 - Carlow Open Afternoon
The Foundation held a hugely popular open afternoon for all comers last Sunday 26th April.
Over 200 people came and enjoyed the hospitality of the new Carlow scheme in Castle Oaks. Regular tours of the accommodation were organised by the staff and residents themselves to show off the facilities. Support from Homebase was greatly appreciated as well as CKR radio.

March 2009 - Carlow SPC
The Sue Ryder Foundation was delighted to host the Carlow County Council Strategic Policy Committee in it new Castle Oaks scheme in Carlow Town.
The SPC inspected the new scheme, met with the new staff as well as holding their meeting in the dining room of the new scheme.
The Castle Oaks scheme has 53 one and two bedroomed apartments as well as a communal dining area, kitchen, day room and office.
It will make a significant contribution to the support for the elderly in county.
